Australia's Largest Independent Evaluation of Merino Genetics

The Australian Merino Production Trial (AMPT) is Australia's leading independent sheep benchmarking project, providing Merino producers with trusted data to improve breeding, management and profitability.

By evaluating genetics under commercial production systems, the AMPT measures key traits including wool quality, growth, carcase performance and eating quality.

Bringing together producers, researchers and industry leaders from across Australia, the trial delivers practical insights that drive informed decision-making, accelerate genetic progress and strengthen the future of the Australian sheep industry.

Riverina Sheep and Wool Expo
2026 Presentation

Bringing together Riverina Merino studs, guest Merino studs, studs from other breeds, trade and information displays - this is a one stop shop for the commercial breeder in the Riverina

It is a collaborative initiative between local Merino stud breeders in the Riverina region of New South Wales. The aim is to provide a platform where breeders can collectively display their rams and stud ewes to commercial woolgrowers and fellow breeders in one central location ahead of the ram-selling season.

The expo is focused on promoting genetic progress, showcasing wool quality, and fostering community and business connections within the sheep and wool sector.
